EDIT: Just read your other post.. I think part of the price they quote you includes a core charge for returning the bad one!!

I replaced the brushes after a good cleaning, made one small project and half way thru the machine stopped and gave me a check cut motor message. Took the motor out again and the bottom of the plastic housing was melted. When I talked to LHR they mentioned nothing about a core charge and all they have are rebuilt motors.

Forgot to mention that it was a previous cut message before I replaced the brushes and was put back together the same way it came apart. I took the motor apart and could'nt find anything on the inside that may have caused it to do what it did. Any help will sure be appreciated.

The "check cut motor" msg is often a nuisance msg that you can usually just hit enter and continue with the carve. In your case it appears to have been not the case.

I just checked the Sears parts direct and they show a new motor for $146.00

That kind of makes the re furb. unit sound good!!
