Hello, I've had my probe as long as I've had my machine and never used it. Today I decided I would try it out. Well I installed the probe, which by the way I find strange, because there is nothing holding it to the QC adapter. Anyway, I installed the probe and put in the sled and the item I want to scan, press 1 for scan and get "close cover" Can seem to figure this thing out, could someone please provide me with some guidance? Thanks

Let's start by watching this lesson on the usage of the Scanning Probe.

Also, make sure that you plug in the cord from the probe to the keyboard side of the cover, unless you have an "Old" Truck and have never had it replaced. All new trucks are wired to the plug on the inside of the machine, on the keyboard side.

Is there a problem with the "old" truck? Im just so happy to actually being able to use my machines consistently now I am really leaning toward the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality. Just as the OP, I bought the probe when I first bought my #1 machine in 2007. I've installed the software but never did anything else with it. Someday I will.....

Both of my machine have the old truck... and I also really dont wanna go sepdning money just for the sake of spending money.

Bud watched the video before I started, and the cable is connected correctly. I read the probe book, did some of the checks listed and the probe seems to be connected correctly, so I'm not sure if I have a sensor out or not. I removed the probe and I'm still getting the close cover error, maybe I missed a setting or something. I have the new ver of the probe, it connects to the cover instead of the Ztruck,

OK, go to Options and do your "Sensor" check to resolve the cover issue.
You are correct, if probably has nothing to do with the Probe, but unplug and remove it before you start the Sensor check just to be sure.

Bud, will do that in the morning.

By the way, does anyone have the instructions for installint the switch, just in case I have to do that. I have a spare on hand. Thanks
