So i have the chain lube i got at Ace. Seems many use it. i know i read somewhere on here how to lube the shaft but cant find it... i think i remember something about using a plastic bag or ziploc or something?

So whats the best way to use the chain lube? Let the shaft soak in the bag? Just wipe it on?

Thanks in advance

This is what the pdf says,

It is one the customer service page,

There are various ways/methods of putting the lube on and letting it soak in to the shaft. newspaper laid out on the shop floor, plastic bag, closed end tube, coffee can, tray....

You could probably spend a couple of nights reading all that has been posted on the topic. You will see several posts on Crane Cam Lube with molly. Great stuff if you can find it. Company went out of business and it is still not clear if the new company will be producing it or not. I know there were a few that bought the big package of it when they bought it. Little goes a very long way and works great.

The factory uses a piece of angle iron as a soaking tray. They use the Liquid Wrench Chain Lube with Molly-D and spray it on the legth of the chain sitting in the angle iron. It creates a small pool of the lube let it sit for about 60 second or so and then wipe it down. Rember that too much is the same as not enough.

The problem with the "runnier" liquid Molys is the potential for them getting into the "tophat" and burning out bearings.

I haven't had a problem with temps since using CraneCams - applied it when the machine was new, haven't added any since.

Of course, CraneCams isn't available anymore, so the trick would be to find another Moly "paste".

I did find the one below - perhaps one of you technical guys could take a look and let us know what you think.....

Here's another - $19 for a 2 oz. jar, we were paying $10 for 2-1oz. packets of the CraneCams.

Since Crane is no longer, I bet some of those who bought the big package could re coop a few bucks by selling some of what they have..

I have been using LubriplateX-357 and it goes on thick, but I forgot where I bought it from. I could buy the moly paste, but wasn't sure about it.

I need to go get some now! With -7 degrees outside I bet I wouldn't need anything! That is if I could the unit going!

Ike, I got some of this from "Fastenal". This is the other brand the factory uses and it's the kind I have. I never could find the liquid wrench version
