Inkscape is to Adobe Illustrator as GIMP is to Photoshop. Inkscape is an opensource vector drawing program. You can use it with CW in a few ways. I typically export to an AI compatable file and then use AI2MPC to convert to Carvewright vector objects.

There is lots of really good open source software out there... although sometimes if you dont know how to pose your query it can be a little difficult to track down.

I beleive they are also posting in the forum somewhere. This is a dos based program and the AI file must be in version 8 or lower. It's simple but it works.

I have been using Inkscape for a while, but I have yet to figure out how to get the output into an AI file to use ai2mpc. How do you do it?

Hmmm... I'll have to look when I get home. I thought it supported AI directly, but I also have Adobe CS3 so I may have just been saving to another vector file format and importing and export from Illustrator.

I have 0.46 here at work and I'm sure I have the same version at home. Neither has the option of exporting an ai file.
