Need some advise --

What would you guys recommend for a finish on wood candle stick holders ? -
I've heard tung oil is OK -- Don't want to torch the house

Thanks

What type of wood are the carved out of? Tung oil on pine or oak would look good but not so much on Walnut or purpleheart. Keep in mind that tung oil done properly is a little time consuming. The right way to do it is sand smooth..apply...sand with 400 or better...apply again...sand with higher grit...etc. I do it around 5 or 6 times to get the finish I can live with. Here is a helpful hint-when your done with the finishing part then take a pair of panty hose and rub it down like crazy. This works really well if you can somehow spin the candlestick holder like on a lathe or drill press. The hose puts a really nice sheen on it. When you decide what you are going to do we would love to see pics of the finished product...subtle hint :p

Remember that you should have a "metal" insert that goes into the holder prior to the candle.
