how to save to carvewright favorites

I've been told the only dumb question is an unasked question so here goes.
I'm trying to use different patterns on the same board. these are pattern that some of you great users have shared. I don't understand how to get them on the board together. If they were in my favorites (in carvewright)
I can see how, but they are all in a folder that I created on my hard drive.

open new prodject
open pattern file
open favorites
right clik on favorits
pick import
find ptn to import

I guess I stated this wrong what I'm wanting to put in favorites or on a board are mpc files. Can I convert the mpc files to ptn files?? They are pieces of shared projects.

open mpc then just hit extract pattern button will go to favorites
