can someone help me and tell me how to get the bearing out of the z truck
i have it out of the machine but cant seem to get the bearing out.

all help appreciated

Kendall,

There is a huge pdf that I was going to give you the link to, but could not find it.

Either carefully heat the screw with a soldering iron or drill the head off.

i guess i need to edit this

im looking to remove the collet bearings not the four that are on the back of the z truck

Sorry about that - I think that Jeff wrote something about that. If I recall correctly it isn't easy but they press in and out. Be careful since they are not steel bearings, the balls are ceramic.

Make sure to remove the snap ring at the top (under where the tophat is). You can then press the shaft out from the top bearing. The bottom bearing will come out with the shaft. As long as you press out the bearings with an arbor or hydraulic press with even pressure, the bearings should not be damaged. When you reassemble, make sure to use a sleeve that applies the pressure to both races (inner and outer) uniformly. The bearings will slip easily into the aluminum housing, but need the press to go on the spindle.
