It's broke

Two micro switches - the one under the lid nearest the keypad stops the cut motor, the one to the right is the culprit - check to see if it's stuck/full of sawdust/broke.

Ruffus,

Get in the habit of using the Stop button, it will save your switches arcing.

That reply above is backwards.....

The Left Switch tells the computer you opened the cover and stops the motion and stops the cut motor.... THAT switch is stuck in the ALWAYS ON position... NOT SAFE......

The Switch on the Right is there JUST for this reason.... If the Left Switch fails the Right Switch that is in the Return Circuit of the Cut Motor Power Wires opens and STOPS the Cut Motor.... With the Left Switch BAD.... The Computer does NOT know you opened the cover...

Get it fixed..... Like KEN said, for now pressing STOP like said above will safely stop the machine but you want to get it fixed. Pressing STOP is better than opening the cover.... I never press stop.... But that is just me...

Especially if it is a Kids Unit.... NEVER Jumper any safety switches.....
