You can always just use "extract pattern" to get it from the mpc to your ptn library

This is truly an amazing machine capable of carving smaller objects. I made a carrier board to receive a half inch piece of red oak, measuring roughly 3 x 6 inches. Using my miter gauge, I figured I could leave just enough wood, about the thickness of two sheets of paper, so my filigree wouldn't fly apart while carving. This carved on my B machine. I wonder what a C machine will do. I'll leave that for next year when perhaps I can buy one and see what it can do. The carve came out better than I thought possible. Amazing!! In the third photo you can clearly see how thin the base layer of oak remains.

Here is the project this was used on. All that remains for tomorrow is to drill and mount the tuning keys and string this. It is a 17" tuning scale guitar I plan to take camping with me. Thanks Ray. I really appreciate all the encouragement and help.

I was wondering if anyone would give me their opinion on this picture if you think it would make for a good lithopane carving, I'd like to do this and make it a gift for an owner of a business, as this is their logo.

CJ

Seems almost too "two dimensional" for a litho.

If you had a really hi-res png of the logo you could bring into Designer, I think it would make for a better carve on a good hardwood, like walnut.

The pic below is my taking the logo into Irfanview, and increasing the res. It's pretty "messy", raising the res like that - but, again, with a clean import, it would look pretty good.3907039071

CarverJerry
10-05-2010, 03:03 PM
Well I just took that picture off his web site ( http://www.promoldinc.com/ ) sort hard to ask for something without blowing the gift idea, if ya know what I mean.

William Blankenship
10-05-2010, 07:05 PM
That is a good point.

If I were you, I would attempt to redraw it at a higher resolution. I haven't carved any lithopane but I do know that if you eliminate the noise, you will get good results. When do you need it?

CarverJerry
10-05-2010, 07:52 PM
In a coule of weeks would do, just as long as it's before the 1st of Nov.

William Blankenship
10-05-2010, 07:55 PM
Let me give it a try. I'll be able to get to it on Thursday. Tomorrow I have a new guitar to play. <grin>.....

Jerry

If you go here http://www.lambswoodworking.com/carvewright/glob-logo1.png and save image as, then import it into CW. I think inverting it will be best for litho.

If you remove the 1 from the name above and save image as the image it is high res, and cleaned up. Both are too large to upload here.

CarverJerry
10-05-2010, 10:05 PM
Thanks Eddie, I saved both files and I will give them a try, thats so nice of you to do that for me. Thats whats awsom about this forum, everyone is so helpful.
