Hess,

There really isn't a right or wrong way to make one, as each one will be different for user preferences. Do a search for lighting lithos. That should bring up numerous techniques.

Lowes sells pucks for around 10 bucks, they have them singly of in packs of 3, the 3 pack comes with cords so you can chain them together for larger lithos if you want. I've made a couple that were about 12X24 and used a small under the counter 12 inch flourescent. My mounting locations vary depending on if some areas need more lite due to cut depth.
Actually made one large one in some corian that I didn't realise had a gray swirl texture in it. Drilled a couple of hole in it and hung it from the windo latch in my shop. Gets a lot of comments when the sunlight is behind it.
