Lee,

I think that is what we call a "register" in our neck of the woods.

Not sure that the CW would best for this, but on second thought, it might be great!

I believe Doc's right,
This might be something like what he's looking for.

A floor diffuser is also called a Register

See attached pictures as an exemple!

Thanks for your help!!!

Sorry must have been a lack of coffee this morning. Couldn't figure how to defuse a floor. But now it registers. Thanks for the wake up, neat idea thanks for all the help.

How about something like this to start with,
you could change the measurements to your needs.

I would think that the grain direction would be a consideration on this, that is why I didn't think it was a good idea at first. For strength, you would need the grain going both ways depending on which part you were considering (frame or defuses)

I have seen very decorative metal ones at Home Depot. I've seen some people use them for drip tray covers in homemade kegerators.

My Son has them in his house and they look like they are Oak. Got them from Lowes. For the most part they would be strong enough depending on where they are used. Most of the time they are not walked on because they are mostly up close to the wall, not in the walk area.
