Hello all you carving folks. Anyone have any tips on how to go about doing 2-tone stains on projects such light carvings on dark background?

Thanks

You can stain the board first then carve or stain after then sand . try a dry pad with just a hint of stain alost dry on pad, wipe on wet let dry for 10 min wash of top with paint thiner to remove tops of carving , use light sanding sealer befor staing, put on dark stain wipe off put on light or color stain on top, just have fun. you may come up with somthing on you own .

Thanks. I guess the name of the game is to try and have fun with it as you say. I'll try different things and post pictures when I can. I did put couple of quotes of blonde shellac on one project and it came out pretty good.
