Can someone tell me how I carved region cut out 1" dia X .25 deep in the center of this pattern? Or do I need to drill it out with a forstner bit.

Thanks

by selecting the drill tool and then assigning the parameters of the hole you want. Hope this helps.

Dan

I think he wants a 1" round dish carved in the center of the pattern where the drill hole is now.

Now that I look at it again, I think you got it - no wonder I had a problem

Quote from Ken>

Use the Circle or Oval tool to make a Carve Region
Use Select Surface Double - Down and Invert it
Select you depth at what you want and set the height at .999
Set the Merge Style to additive (+) and then Group the carving
Last Select the Group and save it as a New Pattern with nice smooth tapered sides

Richard,

If you are referring to the hidden Masonic emblem. Open Ken's mpc file above and in designer right click on the Masonic emblem in the carving list and go down to merge/merge additive and it will appear.

Like I said it was by accident I was working on something else at the time and transferred the pattern subtracted unintentionally.

Hi Dan,

Ya never know what you might find in one of these .mpc files.

Richard,

Here's the basic file -- note the one Subtractive Merge that makes it work.

Hi

Go down to post 19 of this tread and open Ken's mpc file in designer.

On the left hand side of the screen is the carving list. The 3rd item down on the list is the Masonic Emblem. Right click with the mouse and go down to merge and click on merge additive and it will appear.

What does the Masonic temple have to do with the dishout?
That is not suppose to be in there

I need to know the steps to make the circle, dish it out, etc. to make it look like Kens so I can use this in the future I have no dishout pattern

Thanks

After I figured out how to make them in designer Version 1.152,
I posted these .ptn files as patterns a few weeks ago
for any one to use or play with. --- if you get a lip, Remove the feathering and set the depth at .999

Ps. The Masonic temple Pattern really didn't have anything to do with the dishout!!

In designer go to the carving list on the left of the screen and right click on the emblem and then delete and it will be gone for good.
