Great work. What size is the work piece? As clear as the cuts are I am unable to determine scale of project. It seems the lighter the wood the more the details will show. What type of wood is used? It is nice to see quality results. My CW is being repaired for hardware issues.
Keep making sawdust.

Hey CW: how long do those carving bits last and how do you guage when you need to put in a new one?
They are solid carbide end-mills used in the industry for cutting metal. We've never had one go dull in regular wood, although we did have one showing signs of wear after many hours of deep cuts in MDF. The theory amongst the engineers here is that the issue with MDF is the glue.

As far as what to look for, the bits should stay sharp and be free of obvious signs of wear. Dull bits may also burn the wood, become blackened, or produce cuts of greatly reduced quality.

Great work as always -- I can't wait to see your next creation!
