OK, so I updated to latest version including the STL Importer capability (VERY excited about that!), found some free files on the forum, downloaded one to see what it can do, and found that stl "is an unrecognized type". What gives? Is Importer a separate purchase? Am I doing something wrong?

I ran in to that issue alot as well. Do a google search for "meshlab". It is a free download as well. Load your stl in to meshlab, turn around and save it.. and then you stl importer should be able to read it without a hitch. I've been choosing ascii when I save in meshlab.. but i am not sure that is required.

Not really clear if you purchased the STL importer but the license is separate and is $299.99

Hmm... I guess I better start reading a little closer. That's twice now i have glossed over an "important" detail. As PCW noted, the STL importer is a seperate purchase (which i did buy)... but I do run in to an aweful lot of stl files the the lhr importer refuses to read. A quick load/save via meshlab has fixed them all for me so far.

http://site.littleredwoodshop.info/Free_STL_Patterns.html I have converted them all and checked them in the STL Impoter.....

And if sign up on the CNC Art guild Forum - we have actually set-up a way to share STL files. Link Below.......
