fru·gal (frhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/oomacr.gifhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/prime.gifghttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/schwa.gifl)
adj. 1. Practicing or marked by economy, as in the expenditure of money or the use of material resources.
2. Costing little; inexpensive:

Last year I started using "Place on END" and designed in a 4 inch block of waste on each project to always stay under the rollers and never break a bit like some do with short boards. I ended up with quite a pile of 4 inch cut off boards... I used them to make Cut out Bears and Christmas Ornaments with a sled to hold 3 blocks at a time. But the pile has been getting bigger....

SO this year I am being more FRUGAL in my use of wood, especially since half the clocks in the picture are Clear Pine clocks that I sell for $5.00 more than Clocks with knots in them.

I am using MASKING Tape to add the scrap to the edge of the board making sure it is flush on the brass roller side of the board.

So far, SO GOOD..... My Stock in Masking Tape is LOOKING UP..... FOR every 3 end scraps I don't make, it turns into a $35.00 or $40.00 Clock..... There is 3 additional clocks in that pile in saved cut off wood....

More fun with Tape and Wood Blocks...

My Wine Rack with 8 holes rather than 6 holes. Someone posted pictures of a 8 hole version last year and it looked good.

Here is the pattern without the grapes.

I will put it in the Pattern Thread too. The rails are made from Balaster Stock. -1:roll: A-

This works for a CD or Book Rack too....

Have Fun.

Hey Al,

What is Blaster Stock? I'm not familiar with that term.

You may need to make sure you out feed tables are adjusted right. You can also use hot melt glue. The main thing is you do not want your rollers to uncompress. When a roller does that you will get snipe. That's a big problem on a planer also.

I just tape it all around and add 2 strips on top and bottom. For longer boards that may depend on the strength of the wood end to hold up the board I support the long part of the board.

Yes the Tables need to be adjusted too. I do it to let me save from having to cut that piece off as waste. And I still have wood under the rollers to support the front side.

I am having trouble with the 3.5 inch wood blocks starting to warp. I will cut some new blocks and have the long grain go left to right just for the wood extension. It is important that the wood be even and have tape at the brass roller track for the whole length and especially at the joint to prevent lost of contact with the brass roller.

Good Luck,

AL

Delivery day went well, more happy customers.... Weighed in today and with all the walking I do twice a day, lost 3 pounds last week and was floored when I lost 6 this week.... 10,000 step or 5 mile days will do that... Only had one but the rest were 8K..... We will see what happens next week.... The Walking and Working continues...

I will settle for a Banana and back to painting clocks at Midnight watching Comedy Centeral....

Walked so much last week the old Black Lab did a Fake... Slipped back to the shade of the Front Porch.... 3 walks a day were just too much... My Step Father walks them at 3 PM and I do it at 8 AM and dusk.

Found this Garden Chair for the Plus Size guy on a website. I will copy the design but use 4 x 4's for the sides. I need more places to sit and relax along the brook between walks.

Edit: Finished painting at 2:15 AM.....;)
