I have been working on searching everywhere on the net and converting files (since Friday - my wife said it's time to take a break). Rather than posting everything here and diluting the content of this topic I built some pages on my website. Click on the link below "LittleRedWoodshop" and look for the "Free Stuff' tab right below the header. Be sure to let me know what you you think. I have about 100 more files to post (still searching so there will be more) - so be sure to check it periodically for new STLs.

Topics currently include: Weapons, Sci-Fi, Planes, Vehicles, Boats & Ships, Birds, Fish, Dinosaurs, Animals, Toys, Tools, Instruments, Statues & Misc.

To much money in printing - shirts, hats, business cards, you know the drill. But I'm glad you liked the files.

Jason,

Did you do the photography and layout? Looks nice.

How many hours goes it to completing a guitar machine/sand/clear coat and finish Polish. Do you have over 40 hours involved?

Sad week for Les Paul he will be missed.

So can STL files be imported in to Designer and then saved as ptns or mpcs?

No you have to have the STL Imorter... you import them to the STL Impoter, slice them and then save them as MPCs. Check it out on CWs wensite http://carvewright.com/article/show/id/51.

The CW works goes fast now that all the patterns are finished and fine tuned. the key is to make five each that's true with the violins 2.

I make all my parts from the neck to the inlay so about a 16 hrs or so depending on the design. finishing is about 8hrs and two weeks to cure the lacquer for rub out.

BTW McFaddens lacquer " the best" just closed it doors via chapter 11.

I have five Les Pauls i made in june that i will be starting back on this month all in the final neck to body stages I was holding off to make the violns and finish up my logo inlays now finished.

R.I.P Les Paul :(

Since McFaddens is in chapter 11, has anyone tried this?

If i can get something that looks as good as laquer without all the troubles it would be a good thing.

yes about two years ago and it was not a fun ride but it could be improved buy now i think.

Min Wax has a good waterbase that i use for the sealer coats.

Also system 5 epoxy works. but all of it needs a few coats of nitro as a topper.
