z axis stall

error 246 z axis stall. anyone had this problem?

I had this error last night. I hit stop so I could lift the lid and clean out some debis. But instead of the head lifting straight up and the motor coming to a stop. The motor shut off and the head kept moving in the carving pattern until the bit stopped. Then it came up with z axis stall. The machine is still working now. But I had to restart the project.
