Just picked the stl importer...understand the pink color and the probs but what does the blue color indicate?...couldnt find any reference to it in the manual or videos.

Blue are areas that can't be carved. Under cuts and such.

whats the best way to combat the blue areas undercuts....any advice?

The only way is to modify the stl model itself, I guess.

The blue areas are there so you can see where the undercuts are going to be. So when you make a slice you can adjust your slice accordingly. By being able to see the undercuts better you can make a more informed slice. Now what I've experienced on my slices is you can't always get every undercut. The idea is to minimize them. Expect some filling and shaping on the finished product. They are just a useful tool, don't over think them.
