I'm trying to figure out why the outer edges of the design are not smooth. If you zoom in you'll see that they're not smooth and rounded, but are actually jagged. Please advise on how to smooth that out. I didn't purchase the pattern as it was a "feebie" here. Is it the way it was made from the beginning? Hope not!

Look like that is how it was made. Sorry I can't help with anything.

I think you will find that importing a pattern into designer will look like that. Have you tried to cut this on a junk piece of wood to see if it looks ok after carve?

It looks like the pattern was made from a low resolution graphic. When I extracted the pattern, it shows as 2" x 2" confirming my suspicions. There is not much you can do with that small of a pattern when you want it to be 3.5x the original size. You get what you pay for :).

Without spending a lot of time, you can increase the draft. Right now you have it straight. This will smooth it some. Also, I don't think it would be a problem to clean it up with the dremel after carving but Idon't think you will notice anything. I could try to fix the graphic if you can send me the file.

The file size looks like it was made with a small image (27.2KB)
I have one it is not the same image. Will this work for you?

Excellent! Thank you very much. I'll be making this for my son who has completed his Fire Fighter training and is now finishing up his EMT training this month. Hope to make it look as good as if AL Who? would have done it! :)

Question..... I've never purchased anything from the Pattern Depot. How does it work? When I place the order with credit card is the file (.mpc, ptn or mpw) sent to me via email? Thanks.

You can actually "try before you buy" a pattern. You can download it for free, and see what it looks like in Designer, you just can't carve it. When you buy it, you'll get a license to use it.

And that is the pattern Al uses. :) If Al can make it look good, I have no doubt you can too.

Hi, thought I would try to help. Here are some I just did this a.m. and here is a link to a BUNCH of Fire Deparment logos, badges etc. You might get lucky if you don't like one of these.
THanks
Robert
