Question: Why does the gears strip when going up and down. After carving a project, I have to reset the level of the top tray. I'm calling it a tray because I don't know the name of it.
I have loosen the four rods the "tray" rides on and I can get the tray to move and be square with the bottom. After I ajust the tray I tighten up the rods and I can carve again. But after that carving and I move the tray up to remove the board I can hear the gears strip and the tray is out of alinement. I have to reset the tray again to carve the next project..
Any ideas of what I am doing wrong or is there a part that is bad? All the gears are in good shape and oiled right. There does seem to be a gap between each gear that would cause them to slip. Don't know how to fix that.. Thanks ahead of time..

Here is the PDF that explains how to adjust the vertical rods if you don't have it.
