I tried some thing new. I painted it all black then sanded off the 1st layer
its a little hard to see before the paint

Looks Neat,
If you put a Sanding Sealer or Top Coat on it,

Did you just carve it from a png? Did you have to do anything special to the picture first like greyscale it?

you can mess with threshold in photoshop to get ride of the color
