I downloaded the software to get a feel for it.

On a drawing flat board 14x17

Im selected a 1/2" bit straight cut using a depth of .36 and inset .25 from the board edge. Now on the 3d rendering it shows a groove instead of a clean cut off the edge.

could the settings from board setup being constricted to 1/8" bit cause this?

Thank you

The 1/8" carving bit setting applies only to rastered patterns, not to any routs you may command with other bits. If I'm understanding correctly, you've laid out a line that is 0.25" from the board edge, applied a 1/2" straight bit, and perhaps see a sliver of wood remaining on the edge even though the edge should have been fully consumed by the bit (see image below)? If so, then this is a rendering limitation with the software -- it doesn't account for the fact that the sliver will fall off during the cut, due to it being so thin.

Your project should rout perfectly fine. Please let me know if I've misunderstood.
