I want to carve Willie Wirehand in a project, but I'm not sure how to import him. When I try I get the white background. What should I do to just get Willie?

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff,
Try this. Let me know if it is what you want??

Open the Zip file and save the picture as a png file load it into your CW destgner and save him as a ptn file

That's what I got. If you look at the .mpc, the white background produces a carve region. I am going to carve this in Lexan, so I only want the Willie image.

mabco12,

I've gotten that before too. I only want to carve where the black lines are. If I invert the image, it looks like garbage. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Ah now I see What you want

Ps. If you trace over him with vector line segments
He'll carve much nicer http://forum.carvewright.com/images/icons/icon14.gif

Badger,

Thanks for the pattern. How were you able to do that?

First I converted to a png, then removed the background in pattern editor. Greg

Which ptn do you guys think will work best in Lexan?

Askbud,

In your video, you demonstrate right clicking on a connected line and choosing "Form". Is Form an option with design editor? I don't have that option. If it is I guess I will be purchasing a scanner sometime soon.

As far as I know the option comes with Designer, not the probe.
You may need to zoom in on your design so you can click on the WHITE line rather than any of the dots. Clicking on a dot or number is what gives you limited options.

since it was just the black and white really not much to enhance on it so just filtered it a little with Diffuse Glow filter on CS3 to round it out a bit and then just set depth to .32 (just received CS3 and along with a couple of bottles of aspirin to try and figure it out, tough learning curve for me. Took me 2 years just to learn how to mess with CS2 and still learning) Started working with AC. Self taught so maybe in another 8 years I might know what Im doing with it but having fun none the less.

Sometimes depending on the image that doesnt work so well this particliar one worked ok though.

That was it. I was right clicking on the middle dot. Thanks.

Ahh. I thought that looked like more than designer. Thanks.
