Need openions on bits.

I don't need to use my machine to cross cut or rip, joint or rout edges; I have dedicated tools for that and more. I need this machine to do what it can uniquely do. I have been reading the threads on hogging out areas and looking at the project in the current newsletter. Rockler has Freud up-cut carbide spiral bits. I am looking at 3/8 and maybe 1/2, because that size is defined in the design program. The supplied 1/8 cutting bit is an up-cut. These are 1/2" shank and 1 1/4" cutting length and they ain't cheep (but good tools seldom are). Good idea or not?

I personally think they are a good idea. Extremely sharp bits are easier on your tools, and make better cuts.
