I'm trying to carve this Celtic piece. Heres what I'm working with..Pine (C & Better)1x12...15"x 3.50"..depths .187...0.250...0.375........heigths 100 to 80....no feather....bit Opt.@ medium to high...no draft...uploaded with Draft and Best..........So you can see that I've gone through a variety senarios and the piece still looks like a nightmare  ...and.....I'm running out of scrap 1x12 for test pieces.............Is there a tutorial that specifically addresses depths/bit opt. etc. etc. for 'detail'.....?????????????????? Thanks in advance for any info you can spare.......................

To get a good carve, first you need to convert the image to a pattern with correct height and depth and is time consuming process. Simply carve from a pic like this one will not get a good result. If you don't have corel or photoshop then try this one: http://www.gimp.org
