Doing some cutting in 3/4 oak on a sled. What does anyone recommend as far as a max depth pass?

Many here use the one pass cut and have no problems with it. I have broken a couple bits in the past so I run all of my cuts with a max pass of 1/4 inch and 3 tabs. Since I have set this as default, I have not had any problems.

Good luck

I second that too. The Side force doing Oak is very hard on the QC.

I do it in 1/4 passes too. And since you are using OAK use some masking tape on the brass track as the oak is hard and the brass roller does not get much of a bit in the Oak and the Rubber washer is good but TAPE is the BEST. Look at the tracks in the tape after the project cuts.

Stair Stepping is the result of Brass Roller Tracking errors. Even I have had it NOT using masking tape.

Ir's ALL About the BRASS ROLLER.....

That wasted Clear Pine would buy 5 rolls of Masking Tape.

I gave the Bunny a Hair cut using my new thickness sander....

I knew you were on here Al, as always. Is normal safer than draft, in other words does it hurt the machine by moving faster on draft?

I like Normal better than draft. Draft jerks around too much.

Just my opinion....

And yes, just finishing another 12 + hour day... 11 PM.... 7 days a week...

Love it...

You place the tape on the bottom of your board, on the keyboard side, the length of the board. It is to give the Brass Roller something to bite in to.
