EDIT: This thread has been closed. Let's remember that this is CarveWright's forum, they pay the bills to keep it going. It is just downright rude for another company to use this space to do their marketing. (Product announcments are OK, but this has gone way beyond that.) If you have a CW related product to sell feel free to announce it here but do your own marketing, start your own website, etc. Don't use this forum to collect a customer list. - Jeff_Birt

This post is being started to do a Head Count of Members Interested in purchasing the Eliminator Chuck.

This Head Count post is for the Machined Version with Threads matching the LHR Z Truck. A Direct replacement for the current QC.

They don't exists as of today, but after a conversation with Joe, I believe that a show of hands would be a great motivator for Joe to invest the Money and Engineering into making the Exact Matching Chuck.

On another forum, Sawmill Creek, there was interest in a Flame Polisher that takes Water or H2O and breaks it down into H or Hydrogen. It makes a pure flame that is used to polish the edge of acrylic plastic after sanding. Any other torch will blacken and burn the edge easily.

A Show of hands was posted that lead to orders being taken and this week my Polisher Showed up.... A Joint Buy was made from a company in China, of a quality unit saving me HUNDREDS. I will use the CW to cut Acrylic name shapes and other shapes and flame polish and LED Edge Light the item.

Without the Head Count and Joint Buy, I would not have a Flame Polisher.

So this post is intended to post your interest in purchasing the Eliminator Chuck that will screw directly to the end of the Z Truck, and HOW MANY.

Interest posts only please. EDIT########This is not a thread to debate why we should not buy one.#########EDIT

EDIT: Discuss AWAY.... What better place....

This thread will benefit the whole CarveWright Community, so I believe it will be appropriate to be posted and should not be removed.

We, as users understand that removing the QC and installing the Eliminator Chuck will most likely void the warranty. Most of us here are YEARS out of warranty.

In the last 2 years I have invested $2500.00 in Repair Parts, Bits, Patterns, and Software for my 3 Machines. Having a stock of repair parts saved me when my Flex Shaft Core broke in the center the other day. Back up and finished the project.

It is my belief that the use of this Eliminator Chuck will be a very positive improvement to my 3 machines.

SO Put me in for 3 and possible 4 as I am still keeping an eye out for machine #4.

Thanks,

AL

With close to 3000 posts here, I believe this is in the best interest of the community.

I have 1 machine but may be buying another one. Put me down for 3. I told PCW in another thread 2 but decided to up it to 3.

I will need something soon. I will be using LHR parts until out of warranty then will change out.

Also put me down for one. I have not done that much carving yet, but I figure if I replace the QC now, the lack of vibration this early in the game will save a lot of wear and tear on my machine, thus requiring less repair overall.

He gave me a ball park price higher than his current model but I don't want to quote a price, that is his ball game.

Remember what ever design you go with, like me I am going to change 1 QC and 5 Bit holders... That adds up over the life of the machine.

He said to call HIM and give him a name and number of units so he can justify the expense. PCW has his number, you can PM him if you need it.

In my opinion it is a win win project for him, a proven design with just a new receiver thread.

Better change my first post... I broke my own rule... Discussion...... Might as well let it FLY.... Discuss away....

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but for those of us with probes - what can be done to use it after the "update"?

Dude ! Excellent question !!!!

Well, If the new Eliminator chuck screws on to the shaft. Swap out to old chuck when using probe.

The real answer, more than likely, is that the scanning pribe will not be able to be used with this update. And who's to say that there aren't future updates that will not be useable as well. There is not alot of "end result" kind of thinking going into this. When you take the QC out the picture - you take any future updates out as well. Thanks Doc......

The one answer to this problem is to have an old Z Truck to swap out when you want to use the probe with a QC on it. I believe the Z Truck is much easier to swap out than the QC or What Ever chuck you get. The lock tite heating issues would make it a risk to swap, the Z Truck is easier in my opinion to swap once you understand the Adjustable Bearing Procedure. Mastering the Adjustable Bearings is key, but that is a skill every user might want to learn.

As a second idea, A resourcefully Machinist could mount a 1/4 inch shaft into the end of a QC that lets you load the QC as a 1/4 inch bit and the Probe snaps into it. Since you are not cutting with it, JB Weld would do to mount the shaft to the QC.

I have never used a Probe, have one, but the extra length should not be an issue.

As for any further updates, just swapping back to a old style QC Z Truck would fix that.

Buying and installing a new style chuck is not a PERMANENT Change..... It is more like changing bits in the machine... YOU CAN ALWAYS CHANGE BACK.

If you remove the bit adapter from the probe it works just fine with the RC chuck.I have scanned a couple of times with my RC chuck and had no problems. The plastic stem fits right into chock.

Well there you have it... Behind door #3 was the informed answer....

Thank you.

It will not be an ISSUE....

Sorry, I asked the question (at work) without looking at my probe (at home).
I did not recall the adapter, but it makes sense that there is one!

After looking at the design of each, I think the Eliminator QC with the wedgelock system will work better for me and guitar buildiing also only one Allen wrench is needed to change the bit a big plus.

Count me in for 1.

as a side note:

At this time i do not recommend a 1/4" only option QC as it will be just to limited down the road.

Al, if this new chuck will last longer and have fewer problems than what we have now then yes I would start with one and see how it works out. If it holds up I would buy one for my 2nd machine and one for back up.

I would like to understand better just how it works and what it consist of.
I see that most understand it better than I do but I am having to replace a QC now after only 38 hr of run time and a bad 10 hr carving.
If someone would e-mail me with information so that I would have a clear understanding of how to install and how it works. Please do so.

Even if no one does put me down for one. I will figure it out.

The eliminator chuck uses a collet and only takes about quater turn on allen wrench to lock or release bit it also takes both 1/2 and 1/4 bits you just have to slip adapter in for 1/4 bits or slide it out for 1/2 bits.I have used it with both and there is never a problem changing bits is a 30 second task at most .No pecking on chuck to make it release like with QC.

I forgot there is also a collet for 3/8 in bits available dont have any so I forgot about it.Both my machines are running right now 1 with RC and 1 with QC. RC is running much quieter and flex cable is 5-6 degs cooler than QC machine both are carving the same project and are at amost same place in carve.
