Sitting Buddha or just the head

This Buddha head turned out really nice. It's 12.5" by 9.5" by 1.25" thick yellow pine. Depth of carve is .800", done on ultimate setting. 3 coats of Behr polyurethane clear. Before and after varnish pictures.

How do I get a heightmap from a 3d model?

not all 3d programs will render a heightmap. I use zbrush and they call it a displacement map. In Maya and 3dmax its called a depth of feild in the render option.
