Here’s one that’s a little different,
The Photos show how I used my machine to carve a New Battery Holder
for an old Art Deco 1.5 volt DC electric Desk Clock.
The four new replaceable “AA” 1.5 volt batteries are connected in parallel
to maintain the same 1.5 volts for several months to a year.
The new pack will use the connecter posts salvaged from the old pack,
and be slipped into the original cardboard sleeve box, that’s dated 1987
(the last time the battery pack was available)

Pretty good way to solve the problem, much stronger than the original.
Nice job!

Neat idea, I've never seen a clock that needed batteries in parallel - usually those types of devices just use a C or D cell.

On another note, I have been using the lithium batteries in my camera and GPS, they make a huge difference in the battery life in those. Not sure if it is the 7X life they claim, but it is definitely longer. And at $1.60 per single cell, you have to remember to turn the power switch off! But I bet they'd do well in a clock.

Hi brdad,

Batteries have been dead for a while last changed - nearly 22 years ago.

Most of these Clocks were made in Germany between 1930 and 1950.
They didn’t have the materials or technology back then to build long lasting Batteries, so they hooked them up in parallel to get around the problem, and call them a long life battery packs. I know I could modify the clock to use more up to date/modern batteries, but we have to do it in a manner that doesn’t change the way it worked or the appearance of the Clock, from what it looked like when it was brought in. --- Gives us something different to work on every day ---
