I'm sure many have seen sites like this but i thought it was interesting to see a rough estimate of who is on this site and who visits it it even shows how many are addicted to it it also shows what site most of us visit when we leave here. http://www.quantcast.com/carvewright.com#

I was surprised to see how few people were represented since over 14,000 machines were sold--

Unfortunately, most machine owners don't know the forum exists. Last year, CarveWright started placing info sheets in the machine boxes to alert new owners to the resources available to them.

However, I get calls from folks almost everyday who STILL don't know about the forum, Tips & Tricks, etc. - - worse is when I get a call from someone who actually knows about the forum, but never bothered to visit or sign up. Naturally, I encourage them to participate and let them know they are missing a tremendous "help line" that could make their CarveWright experience much more enjoyable and productive. (BTW, I think it's over 19,000 machines out there now.)

Am I dreaming or was there a link that showed a map of all the people that were registered owners? I remember seeing a person not too far from me.

No map exists of ALL registered owners. There is a map of folks who have signed up as members of Jason's (Littleredwoodshop) CNC Art Guild (http://www.cncartguild.com/) which is nice, but doesn't show anywhere near all the owners of a CarveWright/CompuCarve (shows less than 200).

I think it would be nice if we could see a map of CW owners just to see if there is any near me (Dallas, TX).

Jerry,

Like Michael stated about Jason's CNC Art Guild site, that is/was part of his intent so that members can post there location for others to find anyone close to them. I have even used to it to refer people for finding someone close so the can see the CW in use before deciding to buy or even see about having something made.

I wonder if people would be willing to start a new thread showing where they live (ie... Houston, TX, Salem, OR etc...) just so we could eventually check it to see who lives close to us. After that we could PM the person to try and set up a "visit". I for one am very very new to this and wish I could visit someone and see how they do things on the CW. I even checked a woodcraft store here in Dallas and the guy there told me that his techs hardly know how to use the CW and therefore wouldn't be much help to me. Don't get me wrong, this forum is by far one of the best that I've ever seen, but being able to sit and talk to a fellow CWer and share ideas would be awesome.

I also would love to possibly contact members who are close to me.I joined the other forum but there only a couple of hundred on the list and only a few in Texas and none close to me.

That's not a bad idea, but, most of the members who want it know where they live usually have it posted under "location" at the top of each of their posts. i.e. mine says "Pasa-getdown-dena" since I'm here in Pasadena, TX.

All you have to do is suggest that people sign-up for "the other forum" and then the list will grow.

That's true - I wish everyone would sign up. Be great to see at a glance where we all are!

Just validated 2 new carves on the CNC Guild Forum..http://cncartguild.com/forum/index.php

Just a quick note to all that are signing up, make sure you also register/sign up on the http://cncartguild.com/ as well. This is where you will find the map and member directory by state.

Edit update: Just so everyone knows, I manually validate each users registration (keeping the spammers away) so there might be a little delay...

Something like this?

CompuCarve and CarveWright machine owners map (http://www.compucarvewright.com/index2.php?option=com_google_maps/)

(it takes a few moments for google to locate ALL the pins, so please be patient :) )

Tommy :)

I just added this feature to the new forum over at CarveSpot. Go to the control center and then click on edit profile. You can place a marker at your location.

On the main forum index, there is a link at the top called 'View User Locations" that will show a map with everyone's location.
