Converting to mpc

I have tried converting a picture to a jpeg file and then brought it into Designer to make a carveable .mpc file. But the .mpc file looked very ragged with a "deep orange peel" look to the carving.

Can these converted .mpc files be cleaned up using Designer? Of course, I am asking before I do any studying in Designer myself...being lazy!
