Say I moved a vertex by typing a number in the constraint box. How dow you remove the constraint to make the vertex free floating again?

I have tried the "Remove Attachment" tool, but I must misunderstand the purpose of that... it didn't work.

rmiller2,

You can remove a constreint by right-clicking it and selecting the option to remove the constraint.
Or, you can click on it and enter a different number.

If I understand you correctly, you may have one or more things "Locked".
Look at the "Yellow" numbers. Find the one that appears to be holding/blocking your desired movement/alteration. Right click on that number and you will be handed options such as "Edit Something, or "Remove Something". You could have used the "Snap" function as well, which could be holding you somewhat.

The two AVI lessons below may give you insight as I get "Locked up" sometimes.
