Does the quality setting when uploading a file for carving override individual settings for patterns?

Yes and no - they are separate settings, BUT if you select "Best" Bit Optimization, and only choose "Draft" for the overall carve setting when you upload - the overall carving will be "Draft" (lowest quality). Sort of defeats the purpose, in a way, if you select dissimilar quality settings at each stage. Still, if you are choosing Draft as an option for testing purposes only (which I never do myself), it doesn't really matter - the project probably wouldn't be a "keeper" anyway, but you would already have your Bit Optimization settings made for when you do the "real thing".

For best results, select "Best" for Bit Optimization for each pattern on the board, and select "Best" or "Optimum" for the overall carve quality when uploading to your card.
