Hi:

The item description lists 9 bits, but the picture shows 11.

I emailed HF two days ago, but got no reply. Has anyone purchased this set from them?

Mike,
That is the same set I got when I purchased my machine in June of last year. Mine came from Amazon. that is a great price on the bits, Lowes has them for $348.00.

I have bought tools from Harbor Freight, but nothing for the CarveWright.

Good luck
Jeff

How many bits did you receive? 9 or 11?
Thanks,
Mike

I got 11 bits. It is the exact same set as in the picture. If you read below the picture, they say 9 bits and there are 11 in the box. It must be a typo.

I called HF today, talked to a guy with a very thick accent. He told me 9 bits - he basically just read the text. I asked him if he was just reading the description - he said he was "looking at some different software". I suspect you are right - it is a typo, but the guys who answer the phone are clueless. Where I work, we would send somebody to physically look at the product. I had a similar experience with the set offered by Northern Tool - 11 are pictured but 9 in the description. They did reply to my email - and said there are 10 bits in the kit!!!
So I stopped at Sears and got the basic set for $123.49 + $7.41 tas = $130.90.

Mike,

Whoever you talked to probably was not even in the USA!

20 % off you can by a new CW for $1359.99 at HF. They are $1699.99 - 20% ($340.00). Beats the 200$ mail in rebate that Sears is offering right now.

I tried to get a CW from Harbor Freight with the 20% coupon 2 weeks ago. The coupons were for in store only. I called the 2 closest stores and they both said the CW was "not sold in stores".

I ended up getting a refurb Compucarve from the ebay seller who has them refurbished by CW. It was missing the crank knob and shoulder bolt, but those parts are en route to me (free) at this time. Other than that, plus the sliding fence being way out of parallel as received, it seems to be OK.
