swhitney: the butterfly is carved in corian and then I hand painted it , the hardest part was sanding that @#$%^& corian areal pain:mrgreen:

Michael I just noticed your local. I'm a transplant from Fallbrook. Try using some of that avocado wood. I was there in the area last week and there is still a lot of dead trees standing from the fires.

Leesheridan: Hey what A coincidence I used to live in Van couver Washington , in answer to your question I use just about any kind of wood I can get my hands on That first box had ebony feet a lacewwod body and two different lids one of white ashe and one of honduras mahogany the second box had ebony feet , anagree fiddleback body and a black corian top. I made the lift outs but havent flocked them yet as you can see!!

Super Shingler as to the gluing of corian I use superglue not the gel kind but the thin watery kind I just put a series of drops on the edge and hold the piece for about 15 or 20 seconds
