Daniel , that looks so simple, can't wait to try it. How did you attach to the muffler I can't find the question mark, maybe I did't get one. Thanks,Capt.Barry

Hey Cap
I just drilled an undersized hole right before it flares out to the 2.5" size , and pushed the tube in just enough to catch the air.

Is the purpose of this to basically keep the carve area clean by using the muffler air pressure?

Yep, you got it. Simple and effective.

Thanks Dan. I had it right all the way to the cutting head itself. I was trying to attach on the other side of the cutter. That does not work by the way.

Does it help reduce noise too and the pressure on the bag. My bags keep ripping or becomes a projectile sometimes at start up!

I have never lost my bag, it still has plenty of presure since putting on the air line. I haven't noticed any difference in noise, it's still loud.

My dust bags have ripped also so I just took a pair of old socks, (after washing them of course) and put that over the muffler, does't cut no noise but does catch the dust and they don't rip as quick.

I use my shop vac and it's 1-1/2 hose stuck right in the muffler hole. The vac doesn't need to be running while carving. Catches the dust and cuts the noise in half.

Since seeing Daniels blower plan, I did the same thing but just put the hole in the vac hose. Works great, no dust, half the noise.

Been doing that for 2 years now. I don't even know where the muffler bag is anymore...LOL

I got a new shop vac for christmas, I'll have to try that. It's too small for anything else, but my son had good intentions.
