Trim Tool???

Can someone please tell me how to use the trim tool or break tool in ver 1.131
is there a tutorial on how to use the layout tools I've looked in help and it does not show the break tool in help and I cannot find the trim tool in the design toolbar also the is no deminstration on how it works
