    Steven,
    Kathy traced one of the medals onto a piece of paper then scanned it into photoshop 7 with our HP printer/scanner. Then filled it with black and loaded it into designer then inverted it and adjusted the size slightly. We did a test carve of one of the medal slots to make sure the size was right then she went ahead with the rest of the design.

    Gary,
    It is probably one of the easiest finishes to do. This piece is made of walnut. The carve came out so smooth that there was very little sanding. I didn't use any stain, just 3 coats of laquer sanding sealer, sanding lightly between, then two coats of clear gloss laquer (no sanding).

    The design was carved with only the 1/16th ball nose bit and the cutting bit.
