Regarding leaving a glue line, I found that the glue line helped keep the dark stain I applied to the walnut from weeping into the lighter wood. I only used a stain to try and even out the colors in the walnut. (And hide some wood putty and a biscuit)
I will keep that in mind when I try laminate carving.
Well, I got my award designed and made. What to you think?
In the second picture you can see I went a little bit too deep into the lighter colored wood. But for a first attempt, I'm happy with it.
That is really nice - I've got to take the time to design some projects using that technique. Beautiful!
