The Designer imports everything as raster. Is there a way to get around this?
I haven't loaded the Pattern Editor on my computer yet so I can't speak about it, but the only way to get a vector graphic into designer ( and I would assume - the pattern editor ) is to convert it to jpg or png. The latter being the preferred format, I think.

There is a very interesting "tips and tricks" available for download which explains how you can "fool" the software into treating some graphics as vector carvings ( like the Centerline Text is engraved ) if you use images as "fonts". It's one of the more interesting things I've read and while I haven't touched on it yet because of lack of time, it's on my list of top things to work on.

If you can get your vector image in to Adobe Illustrator format there is a program posted in the forum called ai2mpc that will convert directly from vector objects to designer vectors. I think the Illustrator file has to be save in version 8 or earlier (Even the newest versions allow you to "back" save to earlier versions). If you cant find the program I think google search also take you right to it.... or let me know and I'll find the original post again.

    Hope that helps...

That program is not the easiest to install. I made a PDF to show how I installed it. I also added the Program in the Zipped file. The read me file shows who owns this program. You might want to send him a thank you also. I also added the MPC I made.

Thanks to each of you for the info you've put out here.

Guess I'd better update my graphic software.

The more ya learn the more you discover there is to be learned.

    Again, thanks.
