I keep reading references in posts such as "set a little draft". The only reference that I've been able to find is in the Quality Settings while uploading an mpc. ??

Hi Mike,
Perhaps this will help...Draft slopes the edges of raster text so there's less chance of chipping out when carved. Text (especially tall text) with sharp, straight sides will tend to chip out especially in soft woods.
Draft can be used on patterns as well for the same purpose.
Find the Draft settings here (image 1)
See the difference Here (Image 2)
Hope that helps

See if this helps you understand Draft.
Bring up a Design Board and start with a large, recessed, rectangle.
Now, place some Text in that box using Raster Style.
While the Text is still highlighted, click on Invert to "Raise" the Text.
Notice how thin the letters appear.
Next, click on "Carving" in the top tool bar and click on "Draft". You will see several Draft Options (side view of the letter/object). Select each one to get a feel of how it changes the base of the letter. This helps avoid chipping of thin letters/objects in some instances (Height also plays an important part in the process.
Draft is similar to "Feather".

Thanks guys - A senior moment I guess... I wasn't putting the term to use in reference to text.
Interesting... and a big THANK YOU to Bud who explained it so well (probably the obvious). I never really looked into "draft" before because I thought I already knew what it did. Had the machines for 18 months and I can still learn something "new" !!!
Gotta love this forum, and this is exactly why I try to keep current with all of the posts.
Thanx again & keep on carvin'

-If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it is jammed, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.
-If it moves and it shouldn't, duct tape it. If it doesn't move and it should, Boeshield T-9
Is there a way to tell what draft has been set for a ptn or text? With some of the other options there is a blue box that tells you with level is set but not for draft.
