Probably dust packed in switch. Use vacum to draw out the dust while moving roller up and down untill cleaned. Or look through posts on cover switch. Search is your friend.

You have used it once? What material did you use? Unless it was MDF or a long hour project I can't see dust packing that quick. Might be a chip though caught in the roller? Of course the famous answer is user error!!! Again I am joking please don't throw rotten fruit at me!
The sensor wires may be loose? I have had this problem too amoung a few more! I have taken a rubber mallet and lightly tap both ends, rotated it and pushed it by hand. Blew it out with compressed air and it seemed to work.
If all else fails...punt! No call CW.

I had the same problem right out of the box on my second machine. The z-bearings dropped out of my first one after about three minutes of cutting. Here is what the problem was. The front roller switch assembly is being hit by the roller locking mechanism. The small bracket that holds the switch in place is at the same level as one of the bars that locks the rollers in place. So everytime you pull the red handle to lock the rollers you are pushing the switch on an angle closer to the roller. After a few times the switch is so far out of position it can't open all the way, causing the machine to think the roller is compressed. It can be fixed easily enough. If you need anything else let me know.
My front roller was stuck in compression mode also when my machine arrived, and would not release, so I didn't get very far that first day! Tech support told me to loosen the 2 screws on each of the 2 metal plates that hold the roller bearings, just a touch, and then squeeze the roller upward, then retighten the screws. Darn if it didn't release (as shown on the check sensors menu).
