Default At a loss - Everything works but doesn't work

    OK

    Searched forums
    read manual
    cleaned sensors
    tested sensors
    all sensors test fine

I put a board in, it measures width (right on the money) but when it measures length, board just comes all the way out and belt sits there turning

    tried tape
    cleaned sensor again

What I have found (finally) is that it will not measure length for any board less than .5 inches thick

Used a test board that measured fine, planed it down to .35 and it no longer measures length

tried this with a second board and got the same result

I have a project at .3 inches thick I have to get done, (it carves all the way through so don't want to use a sled - beside, the machine is supposed to carve down to .25 inches . . . )

Where do I go from here?

    Thanks

    Russ

    Russ,

Sounds like a stuck switch on the right roller (when facing the keypad).

Do a search on the topic, it is usually an easy fix.

Edit: that is what I get for not reading the entire post, material too thin.

Nope, the manual is clear that .5" is the minimum thickness.

    Workpiece Size (Min):
    Length………………………………………………………………………….7.0 inches
    Width…………………………………………………………………………...1.5 inches
    Height…………………………………………………………………..……...0.5 inches

Default Minimum acceptable Thickness is .05

    Hi Russ

    From the manual
Small Workpiece - The minimum acceptable size of a workpiece that can
be inserted into the CarveWright is 1.5 inches wide x 0.5 inches thick x 7
inches long. It will be necessary to mount the workpiece onto a jig (Sled or Carriier Board) if any
single dimension is smaller than the stated minimums.

OK, I see that, Thanks! - I was going by the software, which tells me the minimum thickness I could carve was .25 - Why would the software let you design something you can't carve?

I found that out too Dega, but I have always gone by the manual. I think the software 'glitch' is just a minor mistake from original software, but with all the updates, I think LHR had more important problems to fix with the machine actually running.

If it doesn't fit force it. If it breaks then it needed replacing anyway.

Hey Beach - that's exactly what I did - taped a piece if 1/8th MDF to the stock and viola! Worked fine
