Here's a few stupid questions -
1. what is the difference between the ptn and stl file.
2. what bits are required to carve this
By the way, This is a fantastic looking project. Just wanted to make sure what I should download before I buy.
Thanks
Hi,
PTN is a pattern file format used by CW machine. This pattern file format is used the most by CW machine.
STL is a stereolithography CAD 3d model mostly used by CNC machine. CW machine also supported STL file type but it required STL importer which cost extra from Carevwright.
If you don't have STL importer or you don't do a lot of full 3d object carving then PTN pattern file is all you need.
The bit needed to carve this project is the regular 1/16" ball nose bit that came with CW machine.
Hope this help.
Thanks

Thanks for the info
as for the bit, did you mean the 1/16" carving bit that comes with the CW?
