See if this helps. I first drew a circle for reference, drew an arc, copied the arc and then flipped it and moved to the bottom of the circle. Next I used the connected line tool to draw the inset lines.

This is a perfect job for the trim tool if you have the 2D advanced tools. (Circles, however, must be made of arcs to trim.)
