Default Is there a way to offset lines?

Is there any way to offset lines or geometry in this program?

I've got an outline I want to offset to the inside so that it follows the outline cut perfectly. Is there a tool to do this, or am I going to have to manually do it?

If it is a closed outline, you can assign a cutting bit and use inset. You can offset the bit either to the inside or outside.

There is also a feature of the 2d add-on called offset which creates an offset curve.

Use the Cut Path tool (Tools, Cut Path). If you study the dialog box carefully you will see that it is possible to flip the cut out to the inside or outside of the line. It also puts the tabs in for you but, you will not be able to see them.

Ok. I'm not talking about flipping the cut path from one side of the line to the other.

I'm talking about being able to draw a line, then apply a tool that will actually offset another line a certain amount from the original line. It's a basic CAD function in many CAM softwares....

Sorry, re-read it. It is the Path offset that he is talking about.

I just used that feature today! Very handy, indeed (you do need to purchase the 2D Drawing Suite to access that feature, as well as many more).

In the meantime, for something as simple as insetting/offsetting the bit for a Cut Path, you can enter an Offset (it's labeled "Inset") value directly, in any version of Designer (a positive number moves the bit inward from the Cut Path...a negative number moves it outward from the Cut Path.)

Thanks! I guess I'll have to get that vector drawing suite...
