    I carved the handle on the fireball mug with the cw, it is carved 2 sided, then I cut it out with a band saw

    This is the sled I made to carve panels of the mugs. The first picture is the sled with the 8 panels, the second picture is the sled loaded with 3 panels ready for the machine. The 3rd picture is after I carved the panels

    Very nice. Do you miter the panels after you do the carve? I'm curious if it makes much difference in possible chip out at the mitered edges if you do it one way or the other.

    I miter the edges after the carve on a horizontal belt sander, this way I don't lose anything to the saw kerf.

    Mitering on the belt sander is an interesting idea. I have a Ridged oscillating belt/drum sander and the front edge of the table drops to specific angles.
