Default A Deer Hunter's Midnight Dream

Cheesy title I know...but what do you expect for fine artwork...lol. This is my entry into this year's county fair this week. I started out planning on entering a few pens but my wife said I needed to come up with a display.

So the first carve attempt was a bust. It carved great but when cutting out, I lost a lot of the anlters and half the skull.....challenging as I wanted to keep fairly small. So the second attempt faired much better. I just carved the pattern and cut out using the scroll saw.

So all things considered being that I started this yesterday about 4:30 PM after picking up some sheds from the taxidermist and finished at a decent time last time, I am pretty pleased. I haven't seen previous year entries so hoping to at least get an honorable mention.

A really nice display. I also turn pens and probably should do a better job of displaying them at sales.

Very nice carving! I hate to think how many duplicates I've carved before I'm satisfied.
    thanks so much!

Very well done and considering the time of the year, they will get a lot of attention, I am sure. Good luck at the Fair

Every one has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.

I a couple of brass 1/4" rods to hold the antlers in place.
