Why cant we transfer software?

I get reprompted to register my software (most recent) and I did not recover that from the seller... is this the only way?

Yes, just let us know which one to deactivate and when.

I just purchased a used cw with only 25 hours. I was told my vin would activate the software and allow my download of 2.x... I did plug the vin into my already downloaded free version (1.187). Then on the second boot up of the software it prompts me to register the software...
